Singapura (or Temasek) was a thriving emporium and port city, standing at the door of traders from China, India and Java. One of the prized commodities was the famous and highly sought after blue-and-white porcelain. Its unique color and style has captured the public imagination and is one of the most iconic and recognisable art and craft forms from South East Asia. An enduring symbol of purity, perfection and perseverance, the skill required to make this special ceramic can still be found in places like Singapore’s Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle.
This beautiful design incorporates iconic flowers from Singapore’s heritage gardens, and the well-made porcelain inspired by Singapore’s heritage and transformation.
