Our Tree to Tray Story

While we all know the mango tree for its popular fruit, it is also known for its wood which is considered to be strong, durable and is highly water-resistant. Our Mangowood trays are a fine art of craftsmanship, the exclusive designs are created by hand from the segments of our sustainable mango wood.

Once the mango tree stops producing its sweet fruit, it is cut down and repurposed to make fine objects such as furniture and artifacts. This also allows farmers to plant more trees and provides them with supplementary income. The trees are grown around Southeast Asia and South America, with most of our sourced timber being from India. The mango wood for our trays is sourced from Uttarakhand, a state in the northern part of India.

The colors and texture of our product are an inspiration from the Peranakan tiles of Singapore, bringing in the fresh green vibe to your kitchenette. We at Photo Phactory are extremely proud of the fact that our product is environmentally friendly. Our trays are antibacterial and are 100% safe to serve edibles. These wooden trays are quite long-lasting and since they are made from sturdy mango wood, they won't even react chemically with the acids present in the food. Hence these trays are highly resistant and sustainable.

Now for a little bit of trivia, did you know the origin of the Mango tree can be traced all the way back to ancient India, some four thousand years ago. After spreading across India where it was grown for its fruit and wood, with the establishment of water trade routes operated by the Portuguese, the Mango tree in the 16th century AD reached the Philippines, Brazil, and Africa where it has flourished ever since. Today, the Mango fruit is the national fruit of India, the
Philippines, and Pakistan, and the tree itself is the national tree of the country of
Bangladesh.
